About
The Italy Desk explains Italy in English for readers abroad: politics, the economy, the courts, culture and sport, without taking sides. We publish on Instagram, Threads and TikTok as @theitalydesk, and every Friday we send This Week in Italy by email.
Who runs it
The Italy Desk is an independent publication based in Italy. It is not registered as a newspaper with an Italian court.

Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and say what changed. Write to news@theitalydesk.com with the link to the story and what you think is wrong. We reply within five working days.
How we report
Hard-news pieces name their sources. Anything less than a confirmed fact carries a label at the top: alleged, developing, unconfirmed or opinion. People under investigation are presumed innocent until a final ruling, and we avoid naming private individuals unless it is necessary to understand the story.
Synthetic voices
Some of our reels use a synthetic voice. When they do, we say so on screen and in the caption. We do not use AI-generated images of real people or real events.
Images
Our covers and graphics are made by The Italy Desk. Photos inside them come from sources that allow reuse, such as Wikimedia Commons or public archives, and the credit is given in the caption of each Instagram post. If you hold the rights to an image and want it credited differently or removed, write to us.
